Artist Statement

My work is rooted in Florida—its skies, its rhythms, its light, and its people. As an oil painter, I’m drawn to the interplay between the quiet moments of daily life and the dramatic, shifting atmosphere that surrounds them. Towering clouds, expansive beaches, tangled tropical forests, and sunlit streets form the living stage where my subjects exist.

 

I paint to capture these moments:

• A child stepping bravely toward the ocean

• A skater cutting through warm afternoon air

• A waitress balancing plates beneath a cedar roof

• Families, workers, wanderers—paused, thinking, becoming

My art is about presence. It’s about the way Florida feels, how its light shapes us, and how small we are beneath nature, namely our magnificent Florida skies. Through layered oils and contemporary composition, I aim to create paintings that draw viewers into a story—one that is familiar, human, and distinctly Floridian.
